This is our Dane Mrs mango, in the woods in the bracken in Broxbourne woods in Hertfordshire in the UK.

This is what Great Danes live for, going out in the wild

This is Nelson my Great Dane, posing with the ‘Meads of Asphodel’ in the woods wearing Armour.

He’s a big baby really, didn’t know what was going on at all.

Lord Nelson

This is Lord Nelson, he is one of my current rescue Great Danes.

He is 5 and a half years old and is very big and stupid. He was bought by someone who ran a tattoo shop, they used him to keep drunk people away. But the environmental health said no dogs and Nelson had to stay at home all day. He was going to a Rescue centre when we decided to rescue him, he is a hard work dog, he is a very boisterous great dane and likes to jump and leap. I take him out walking all the time, in the woods mainly.

Great Dane Vomit

I know this is not nice, but earlier on Nelson our stupid Great Dane guzzled down some leftover Chicken stew then came into the front room and vomited a huge gushing pile of watery vomit everywhere. I grabbed the camera and took a snap, so here it is, bits of potato, carrots and some bits of grass. nice.

Great Dane Rescue

I have had Danes for only 8 years, before the Danes i had a Labrador, a German Sheppherd, and when i was young a collie. My girlfriend Jen asked if we could get a Great Dane but i had no idea what a Great Dane was at all, we called the Great Dane Rescue and went to Bristol to see some Danes. We found ourselves coming home with Harvey a very large Fawn Great Dane. He had been handed into Battersea Dogs home and suffered some fear aggression, it was hard work at first, he would growl at me and one night he cornered me in the bedroom in my pants and wouldn’t let me get back into bed. It was a battle for me to stay as Alpha dog but eventually Harvey grew to like me and bonded. He only lived a year after i had him, he sadly died of Bloat on fireworks night.

Since then we have had another four Rescue Great Danes, the next one had Wobblers, his name was Bruno , wobblers is a back / spine condition which sometimes affects Great Danes and we spent the next few years lifting him in and out of the car and lifting him up off the floor when he fell over. He had a good life and went out for many good walks, his wobblers didnt stop him going anywhere we took him everywhere with us.
